  Feeding the Hungry

One of the sad realities for children living on the streets in Haiti is that they get used to going days without food. Because of their sporadic eating patterns and the lack of nutritional food, malnutrition is rampant. Children with orange hair can be seen everywhere and are living evidence of the malnutrition on the streets..

Three times a week, Child Hope International provides meals to children in the area who are too poor to eat and/or suffering from malnutrition. The program is run and the meals are served by the children of Maison de Lumiere who provide a warm, family atmosphere where the children can feel assurance that someone nearby cares. In addition to the meals, the children will sing songs, hear a Bible story, make crafts, play games, and watch skits that offer hope and spiritual encouragement. Children who attend these meals may even transition into our residency program, depending on space availability. Others may get sponsored to attend school.

This program strongly supports Maison de Lumiere’s mission to be a “Lighthouse” to the local community and offer a powerful tool for sharing the love of Christ and the message of His Gospel.

“...I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink.” Matt 25:35
