Survival in the neighborhoods and surrounding regions of Port Au Prince is just that, “survival!” When a homeless child comes to Maison de Lumiere, they begin the journey from the life of mere survival to a life of vitality and purpose. Their health and medical issues are difficult to overcome and demand vigilant attention from the staff and missionaries. Malnutrition, worms, infections, and malaria are among the most common medical issues.

Out of this need for improved health and preventative measures that feed off disease, a community medical clinic was birthed.

Brooke James, an RN from the states, has joined Maison de Lumiere to run the clinic and teach the children courses in health, hygiene and nutrition.

The clinic serves to treat minor ailments and illness, refer out where needed, and treat the children at the homes and in the surrounding neighborhood.

Adequate, continuing supplies for this program are completely dependent on the generous donations given through Child Hope International’s Donor Program.
